Now that the playing field is even (http://blogs.denverpost.com/ostrow/wp-admin/post.php?post=12266&action=edit), the Kimmel-Leno-Letterman late night battle launched Tuesday was a win for Jimmy Kimmel nationally. Kimmel’s debut on ABC beat David Letterman on CBS and Jay Leno on NBC in national ratings. (Kimmel scored a 2.8 rating and 8 share in households, besting Letterman’s 2.7 rating, 7 share and Leno’s 2.4 rating, 6 share).
In Denver, however, the new face-off wasn’t as kind to Kimmel. Leno held onto a tenth of a point advantage. The overnight Nielsens:
KUSA Leno 1.5 rating, 7.2 share
KMGH Kimmel 1.4 rating, 6.9 share
KCNC Letterman 1.0 rating, 4.9 share
“Nightline” at 11:30 p.m. maintained a respectable 1.9 rating, 6.7 share on KMGH.
