KDVR-Channel 31 is expanding mid-morning and early-morning newscasts. Fox31 will launch a weekday 11 a.m. newscast beginning April 11 and start the morning newscast, "Good Day Colorado," a half-hour earlier at 4:30 a.m.
The moves are in keeping with changes around the country to more and earlier local newscasts. Fox31 joins an already crowded field at the crack of dawn.
“The FOX31 team is committed to providing news when and where our viewers need it,” said Joan Barrett, recently appointed KDVR and KWGN Vice President and General Manager. “The earlier morning start and a mid-day newscast are ways we believe we can better serve Coloradans and we will continue to look for more opportunities in the future.”
Booke Wagner and Kirk Yuhnke will co-anchor the 4:30 a.m. half-hour of “Good Day Colorado” with meteorologist Greg Dutra and traffic anchor Ken Clark. Wagner, Yuhnke and Dutra will also anchor the half-hour newscast at 11 a.m.
Currently KUSA-Channel 9 leads the early morning pack with KCNC-Channel 4 at No. 2 at 4:30 a.m. See February sweeps numbers here.
