Colorado’s representatives on the gold-winning 2014 U.S. Paralympics Sled Hockey Team, Tyler Carron (#11, Defenseman) of Fort Collins, now living in Berthoud, and Nikko Landeros (#15, Defenseman) of Johnstown, are featured in a new PBS documentary, “Ice Warriors.” The 90-minute film will air locally Nov. 10 at 9 p.m. on Rocky Mountain PBS.
Two of the youngest players, Carron and Landeros, share a story: best friends in high school, they were in a car accident that required amputations for both. They went through rehab together, tried out for sled hockey together, and are now teammates again.
Note, this is an all new documentary, not just a half-hour tagged onto the previous hour.
The film is timed to air on the eve of Veteran’s Day since four of the athletes are “wounded warriors” who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
