Jodi Brooks, a fourth-generation Denverite and longtime Channel 4 reporter, will sign off CBS4 on Friday. The 10 p.m. newscast will be her last. She’s going into sales.
“I decided a year ago that it was time to do something totally different,” she said. She’s leaving to become the regional sales director for a business-to-business insurance company. “I chose fame over fortune (in the TV gig), now I’m choosing fortune over fame.”
The 42-year-old Brooks said she’ll miss her “TV family” at the station, who’ve seen her through marriage, two babies and more. But she will stay involved with the non-profit Colorado Safe Haven for Newborns (http://coloradosafehaven.org/Home.aspx) with which she’s been associated for years, since reporting a story in Mobile, AL.
“My dream was to be a TV news reporter,” she said. Now, “I knew I had to turn the corner.”
