What I quickly see... KOSI takes the top spot with its highest ratings since the holidays... KPTT and KTCL both drop a few spots, but still stay in the top 10. KKFN gets a Broncos' "bump" up a few spots. KKZN drops to its lowest in history (0.3)... as I said a few months ago, look for Clear Channel to change it to an all-sports format...

Yeah right, KKZN as a sports station? First off no one is even listening to KKZN in the first place! It has had bad numbers ever since they were dumb enough to drop the oldies format, awhile back! I think they need to re-think on what they want to do with KKZN, but sports won';t work at all. No one is listening to AM for sports anyways, it is all about being on the FM dial these days! They just need to put music back on 760.

KKZN did okay for the last few years, averaging between a 1.0 and a 2.0. But now it's at its lowest ever and Clear Channel has been dumping Liberal Talk formats on their stations recently (bad ratings or not) and replacing it with Fox Sports Radio. That is why I predict the sports format will be coming.

Clear Channel won't go with a music or oldies format since KRWZ is already doing it and that demographic just isn't very valuable for advertisers. Younger listeners (and more valuable to advertisers) just won't listen to music on AM.

As for the other FM dial sports signals, all but KKFN have some major dead signal spots around the metro area - so KKZN might have an advantage there. Here's a minus - usually when Clear Channel changes these stations from Liberal Talk to Fox Sports Radio, there are no local personalities on-air.

It will be interesting to see how long Clear Channel sticks with the Liberal Talk format on KKZN. I thought it would've been long gone by now...

you might be right, but with three sports stations with gooseeggs and a history of no ratings when it was ktlk with sports/espn on it (hey! look! ten years later and espn still gets squat.) it would be an insane move, if not an unlikely one. meh.

If they had half a brain they'd dump the liberal talk and go to a Classic Country format. If they went live in the drive times and satellite during the other shifts, I think they could do pretty well. Look at what Lincoln Financial did with the crappy signal at 1600. There is still an audience that would listen, if expectations are reasonable and costs are kept low. They may not make a ton, but it would be better than continuing to lose money with the liberal talk.

AND, I wonder why KNUS is still not buying the book. Ratings have to be up since Boyles moved over. You'd think they'd want to crow about the numbers.

I totally agree about a classic country format. I think that could do a lot better than now - probably at least in the mid-ones, 12+. I'm not sure why they haven't changed KKZN's format since they have seemed to stop trying to make it work as-is.

It's strange that Salem is not buying the Denver book since they have been recently in Colorado Springs. And as you say, they have a good bump from Boyles so it would help them.
