The Denver media’s Sept. 18 telethon to raise funds for Colorado’s flood victims (http://blogs.denverpost.com/ostrow/2013/09/16/co-flood-relief-telethon-by-denver-tv-stations/16497/) (#COfloodrelief) succeeded in raising $1.06 million, with more than 10,000 calls.
The telethon to raise funds for the American Red Cross and Community Food Share resulted in a record night for the Red Cross in Colorado. All the major Denver TV stations and several radio stations took part.
“We worked hard to be Switzerland,” said Doug Price of Rocky Mountain PBS, whose studios hosted the telethon. He noted “7 wouldn’t go to 9 and 9 wouldn’t go to 4,” and so on, but they managed to co-exist peacefully at Channel 6.
