Shedding its “South Florida’s Classic Rock” positioning for “Miami’s Greatest Hits”, the move came with a playlist adjustment. The station widened its playlist from 230ish songs played in a week to over 330 with most of the new additions being either 1980s and 1990s Pop/Rock crossovers and some 90s/2000s Rock titles. Top spins were dropped in half from 25 to 13 with every song that received 10 or more in a week being from the 1980s. Among the songs added were titles from 4 Non Blondes, A Flock of Seagulls, B-52’s, Duran Duran, Evanescence, Huey Lewis & The News, Kenny Loggins, No Doubt, Offspring, Peter Gabriel, and John Waite.
WBGG-FM rose from a 2.4 to 2.8 share (https://radioinsight.com/ratings/miami-fort-lauderdale/) in the December 2024 Nielsen Audio ratings ahead of the musical shift.
