https://i0.wp.com/radioinsight.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/thewolf1063-200x200.jpg?resize=200%2C200&ssl=1After two days of stunting (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/285554/wwkx-providence-begins-stunting/), Cumulus Media flipped the former Hip Hop “Hot 106” WWKX Woonsocket/Providence RI to Classic Rock “106.3 The Wolf (https://www.thewolf1063.com)” at midnight.
The change brings a matching playlist, with “102.3 The Wolf (https://www.1023thewolf.com)” WMOS Stonington CT, which covers the southeastern corner of Connecticut and southwestern Rhode Island and had been run out of studios at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville CT. With a new logo to match WWKX, WMOS’s schedule continues to list Mike English in mornings and Westwood One’s Steve Gorman Rocks at night, however the remainder of the local airstaff including New London CT cluster News Director/midday host Jody Morris and Program Director/afternoon host Patrick Cole are no longer listed.
The new format positions WWKX against iHeartMedia Rock 94.1 WHJY (https://94hjy.iheart.com), which ranked fourth in the Providence market with a 7.4 share in the October Nielsen Audio ratings (https://radioinsight.com/ratings/providence/), but has led the market as recently as July.
This story will be updated as more information is available.
