Gerdes, who helped found Alternative “X96” KXRK Salt Lake City also worked at 95.5 KJQN and 101.9 KENZ, was also the founder of Wasatch Community Media. That organization briefly operated non-commercial AAA’s “107.9 The Mountain (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/105955/107-9-the-mountain-rises-in-salt-lake-city/)” KUMT Salt Lake City for a few weeks in 2016 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/105955/107-9-the-mountain-rises-in-salt-lake-city/) and “The River” on 88.9 KYWH/107.1 K296EM Billings MT in 2021 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/207860/new-aaa-flows-into-billings/). In between, he operated AAA webcaster “Utah’s Mountain“.
With the sale and an immediate Time Brokerage Agreement, KHKM will flip to AAA as “98.7 The Hawk (https://987thehawk.com/)“. Legacy Broadcasting had acquired the station in March 2022 as one of Townsquare Media’s divestitures (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/221973/townsquare-sets-missoula-and-tri-cities-spinoffs/) from its purchase of Cherry Creek Media for $60,000. It had been operating as part of Legacy’s non-commercial “Today’s Christian Country (https://todayschristiancountry.com)” network along with 88.7 WCDG Dahlonega GA, 89.9 WCRY Blairsville GA, and 89.9 KYMS Rathdrum ID.
Also in Montana, Scott Davis and Donald Walter are purchasing KOFI Inc. from Dave and Tana Rae for $1.275 million. Upon closing Davis will hold a 54.2% stake in the company, Walter a 37.5% share, and Davis’s two sons Scott Davis Jr. and Zachary Davis will each hold 2.5% of the company. The deal includes Oldies/Conservative Talk 1180 KOFI (https://kofiradio.com)/104.3 K282BP Kalispell, Country “94.3 The Lake (https://943thelake.com)” KOLK Lakeside, and Classic Rock “103.9 The Monster (https://monster1039.com)” KZMN Kalispell/106.7 K294CK Whitefish.
George Flinn sells 92.5 KPPL Poplar Bluff MO to Steven Fuchs’ Fox Radio Network for $200,000. Fox has operated KPPL via Time Brokerage Agreement since February 2009 as Country “Eagle 92.5 (http://www.foxradionetwork.com/theeagle)“.
El Sembrador Ministries acquires Christian CHR “Radio U (https://radiou.com)” 91.5 KRQZ Lompoc/Santa Maria CA from Spirit Communications for $195,000. The buyer operates the Spanish Catholic “ESNE Radio (https://elsembradorministries.com/esne_deployment/)” network.
Davy Rosenzweig’s RZ Radio LLC sells 1340 KTPI Mojave CA to Steve Rubin’s Rubin Broadcasting for $40,000.
Translator SalesVic Michael’s Mountain Community Translators acquires 102.1 K272AF Eagle CO from Don Tlapek for $1000. The translator will switch to rebroadcasting Talpek’s Blizzard Brodcasting Country “Big Country 96.9 (https://www.steamboatradio.com/kbcr-big-country-radio-96-9/)” KBCR-FM Steamboat Springs as a non-fill-in translator. It currently serves as the analog outlet for Spanish Christian “102.1 El Puente (http://www.fmelpuente.net)” via KNS Broadcasting’s 97.7 KZYR-HD2 Avon.
