https://i0.wp.com/radioinsight.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/ski.jpg?resize=200%2C200&ssl=1 Changes are amidst at Howard University Adult R&B 96.3 WHUR (https://whur.com/) Washington DC as Oceanic Tradewinds and Compass Media Networks’ “The Frank Ski Show with Nina Brown (https://www.compassmedianetworks.com/index.php/album/the-frank-ski-show/)” and “The Original Quiet Storm” host John Monds have departed the station.
Both hosts had rejoined WHUR in July 2020 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/193849/frank-ski-joins-whur-for-afternoons/). Ski had an early run in afternoons at WHUR from 2013-2015 in-between his two stints at WVEE Atlanta. Before moving to Atlanta in 1998, Ski spent a decade in Baltimore working at ?V103? WXYV and ?92Q? WERQ where he was also influential in the then strong Baltimore house music scene of the late 80s and early 90s. Until earlier this year, Ski had been pulling double-duty (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/263298/frank-ski-show-exits-kiss-104-1-atlanta/) hosting mornings for Cox Media Group’s “Kiss 104.1” WALR Atlanta and hosting the syndicated show for WHUR and stations across the country (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/250715/frank-ski-show-debuts-in-eight-markets/).
Oceanic Tradewinds CEO Gary Bernstein tells RadioInsight, “Frank’s contract ended on Friday with WHUR after a successful 4 year run and unfortunately we couldn’t come to an agreement on a new deal. The program was consistently the # 1 25-54 music program in the DC area including last month (June). Sean Plater and Al Payne represent the best of what radio has to offer. They are both world class radio executives and incredible people . We couldn’t have asked for better partners.”
https://i0.wp.com/radioinsight.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/johnmonds.jpg?resize=200%2C200&ssl=1Monds also had returned to WHUR (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/192609/autumn-joi-john-monds-join-whur/) in July 2020 to host ?The Original Quiet Storm? from 730pm to midnight weeknights after previously hosting mornings at the station in the early 2000s. Monds had previously spent a decade at Radio One R&B “Majic 102.3” WMMJ hosting their nightly (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/178782/john-monds-out-as-love-and-rb-host/) ?Love and R&B?, which was later syndicated by Reach Media. Monds has also worked at KRBV and KKBT Los Angeles, WILV and WVAZ Chicago, WUSL Philadelphia, and WQHT New York in his career.
