What originally launched (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/197809/93x-fort-myers-becomes-trump-country-93-7/) in September 2020 as “Trump Country 93.7” WXNX Sanibel, the station would become (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/202985/hell-yeah-trump-country-93-7-fort-myers-concedes-its-branding/) “Hell Yeah 93.7” WHEL in December of that year following the last election. The brand would get demoted (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/263626/hell-yeah-93-7-moves-whel-stunting-with-all-taylor-swift/) to translator 94.1 W231DC Fort Myers and WHEL-HD3 in January to make way for the launch of “Hot 93.7 (https://www.937ishot.com)“. In its final ratings survey on 93.7 in December 2023, WHEL was the third-ranked Country station and sixteenth overall in the market with a 1.7 share. It would drop to a 0.1 share in the May 2024 ratings (https://radioinsight.com/ratings/ft-myers/) on 94.1.
The 94.1 translator has joined Sun’s “Fox Sports (https://foxsportsfm.com)” network of translators along with 103.3 W277AP Bayshore and 105.9 W290DB Naples. W277AP had dropped (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/268792/fox-sports-adds-additional-fort-myers-signal/) its “Rock 103.3” identity in May to rejoin the Sports brand.
The loss of “Hell Yeah 94.1” leaves the Fort Myers market with its two preceding Country brands: Renda’s “Gator Country 101.9 (https://www.gatorcountry1019.com)” WWGR and iHeartMedia’s “Cat Country 107.1 (https://catcountry1071.iheart.com)” WCKT.
