The company launched “FM 92.1” WFUZ in 2010 before becoming “Fuzz 92.1” in 2012 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/70540/wilkes-barre-gets-fuzzy/) and “Alt 92.1” in 2017 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/116745/wfuz-rebrands-as-alt-92-1/). The new brand is being overseen by Senior Vice President/Market Manager Terry Deitz and Operations Manager/Program Director Mark Hoover, while consulted by Michelle Rutkowski, OM of The Milwaukee Radio Alliance and PD of “FM 102.1 (https://www.fm1021milwaukee.com)” WLUM. Core artists include Imagine Dragons, Muse, Nirvana, Beck, Radiohead, Florence & the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Twenty One Pilots and Kings of Leon.
Hoover stated, “People have been asking me for years, what happened to Fuzz? I would always reply I miss it too, And after a few years we had the opportunity to bring it back.”
“Fuzz is a fan favorite in NEPA. With it’s return, we are happy to present four, distinct on-air brands* our first time in our more than one hundred years of serving Scranton/Wilkes-Barre”, added Times Shamrock CEO Jim Loftus. “Fuzz 96.1 compliments Rock 107 with the market’s only Alternative Rock choice.”
