Positioning as “Nobody Plays More 80s”, WGOP had been simulcasting Vinco Media’s “B106.1 (https://b1061.com)” WBBX Pocomoke City since returning to operation last year after its facilities were destroyed in a fire (https://www.wboc.com/news/pocomoke-city-based-radio-station-wgop-destroyed-by-fire/article_1b7bde22-1fb4-11ed-a1a8-9f13b1cf7970.html) in August 2022. WBBX shifted from Classic Hits to 60s/70s Oldies in June upon the start of an LMA to Steve Clendenin’s Maryland Media One.
The Waters Group acquired WGOP/W293DN (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/251042/station-sales-week-of-4-14-bicoastal-buys-sells-in-coos-bay/) in April 2023 from Birach Broadcasting.
