Medlock previously hosted mornings on the station in the 2000s after a long run at “KY 102“/”KY 99.7” KYYS. He had been focusing on his voiceover business in recent years.
Medlock’s addition follows the recent launch (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/268098/kcfx-debuts-sparks-lux-in-the-morning/) of “Sparks & Lux” in mornings as the station revised its lineup after the death (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/267569/radio-remembers-kcfx-afternoon-host-brian-slacker-adams/) of Brian ?Slacker? Adams in April.
KCFX Program Director Corey Curelop commented, “Doug Medlock knows Kansas City, he knows the Classic Rock audience, and we are incredibly fortunate he made the decision to return to 101 The Fox.? Cluster Operations Manager Jim Fox added, ?We had big shoes to fill after our difficult loss. The addition of Sparks & Lux Mornings and Doug Medlock Afternoons are exactly what this passionate audience expects from 101 The Fox, known for iconic personalities.?
Medlock stated, ?I?ve been in love with radio since I was a kid. The cool DJs, the music, and the strong connection to the local community. No other media has such a personal relationship with its audience. I?m so excited to be back on 101 The Fox.?
