Employees were notified on Wednesday morning via an email from owner Sandra Knight. She told the staff that the station will cease operations at the end of the month when the divestiture of its other stations completes. The company’s studio building in Santa Maria is currently listed for sale (https://www.coldwellbankerhomes.com/ca/santa-maria/1101-s-broadway/pid_58189134/) for $1.275 million and she said they needed to vacate by June 1. KUHL’s five employees will be paid through June 15.
In the email, Knight also noted that she will be selling all of KUHL’s studio and transmission equipment. No word yet if she plans to take the station silent or simply surrender the license.
