https://radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2024/04/wisconsinpublicradio-200x200.jpgWisconsin Public Radio will revamp its two programming services on Monday, May 20 with its current split of “The Ideas Network” and ?NPR News & Music? replaced with “WPR News (https://www.wpr.org/new/wpr-news)” and “WPR Music (https://www.wpr.org/new/wpr-music)“.
The new “WPR News” will feature expanded local programming as “The Larry Meiller Show” expands to two hours to run from 11am to 1pm Central. They will also launch a new show, “Wisconsin Today” hosted by Kate Archer Kent and Rob Ferrett covering current and emerging issues “with a decidedly Wisconsin point of view” from 9-10am. The network will also feature existing NPR programming including ?Morning Edition,? ?All Things Considered,? ?Marketplace,? ?1A,? ?Science Friday,? and ?Fresh Air?.
“WPR Music” will carry an expanded Classical music lineup featuring Stephanie Elkins in mornings, Norman Gilliand from 10am-1pm, Lori Skelton from 1-4pm, and a 4-7pm host to-be-named. The network will also feature Jazz programming on Friday and Saturday nights, plus world and folk shows on the weekend.
The rebrands will be accompanied by many of the organization’s stations switching programming services. 90.7 WHAD-FM Milwaukee will move from the Public News/Talk “Ideas Network” to the Classical “WPR Music“. Both services will change at WPR’s Madison base where both 970 WHA and 88.7 WERN will carry “WPR News“, but translators 90.5 W214CE/107.9 W300BM and WERN-HD2 will cary “WPR Music“. A full list of which station will carry each network can be found here (https://www.wpr.org/new/find-your-station-2).
