https://radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2021/11/kexp-200x200.pngAs AAA 90.3 KEXP-FM (https://kexp.org) Seattle prepares to launch its simulcast in San Francisco on Tuesday, March 19, its 92.7 KREV (to be KEXC) Alameda CA has begun stunting.
The station has been running a loop this weekend of ambient music, clips of songs from Bay Area artists, a “Camel 106” KMEL liner, and vintage jingles and promos from San Francisco radio stations including the likes of KABL, KFRC, KGO, KLIV, KNBR, and KNEW. KEXC will launch as a full simulcast of KEXP-FM, but intends to launch a Bay Area version of their local music show “Audioasis” on Saturdays from 6-9pm this summer.
Friends of KEXP agreed to purchase (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/260386/kexp-vcy-america-autopilot-fm-to-acquire-stations-from-ed-stolz-auction/) KREV out of the bankruptcy auction of the assets owned by Ed Stolz for $3.75 million. Ahead of the launch of the simulcast, the station has relocated its transmitter site to Mount Sutro where it is operating with 790 watts/275m (https://fccdata.org/?lang=en&appid=25076f918d319bbb018d380bb50a0360&fa cid=36029).
