Zane is best known for his sixteen year run as part of Compass Media Networks’ Free Beer & Hot Wings Show as a producer and co-host from 2000 when it was based at 104.5 WBON Knoxville TN through its move to 94.5 WTHK Trenton NJ and then 97.9 WGRD Grand Rapids where it has been based since 2004 and began national syndication. After he was fired from the show (https://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/2016/02/free_beer_hot_wings_dissed_del.html) in 2016, he then had a stint in mornings (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/105747/eric-zane-joins-wbbl-for-mornings/) at Cumulus Media Sports 107.3 WBBL Grand Rapids and has been hosting a daily podcast since. He is also the public address announcer for the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
At WQON, Zane takes the morning slot that had been held by Chad ‘Chatterson’ Patterson for the past year (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/248618/omelette-chad-patterson-takes-mornings-at-wqon/). Patterson departed the station on March 1 to return to working in education, but will continue to call Grayling High School football for WQON as he has since 2017.
