FCC Actionshttps://radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2020/05/fccseal2020-200x200.pngThe FM Table of Allotments has been amended to added six allocations in Hawaii following a trio of petitions for rulemaking.
SSR Communications proposed the addition of a Class A on 104.7 in Puhi on east side of the island of Kauai. A counter-proposal by Pacific Radio Group sought the frequency to be granted to a Class C3 in Kekaha on the opposite side of the island. Following FCC engineering analysis, the commission reallocated the Puhi proposal to 103.9 and Kekaha to 107.5.
SSR also proposed the allotment of a Class A on 106.3 in Lihue on the eastern side of Kauai. Pacific Radio Group filed a counterproposal for the allocation to be placed as a C3 in Princeville on the northern part of the island. The FCC’s analysis found replacement channels to allow the grant of both with the Lihue proposal moved to 107.1 and Princeville to 95.1.
In the third set of proposals, SSR sought the addition of a Class A on 102.3 in Koloa on the southeast part of Kauai. Pacific Radio Group countered with the placement of the allocation as a C3 in Waimea in the southwest. Like the other two, the FCC has granted alternate channels with Koloa getting 100.7 and Waimea 92.7.
The six channels will be made available in a future auction.
The FCC has rescinded its proposed $1500 fine against Cascade Community Radio?s 101.1 KVRN-LP Portland OR after providing tax records showing its inability to pay. The fine was proposed against KVRN-LP failing to timely file its license renewal after being granted a one year renewal term in 2022 due to prolonged periods of silence.
