The launch follows last week’s announcement of the sale (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/265166/station-sales-week-of-2-23/) of KKCM from Copper Mountain Broadcasting Company to Bill Watson and Sergio Herrera?s WKW Broadcasting for $30,000. The station has previously been simulcasting 96.3 KXCM Joshua Tree until going silent last December after losing its transmitter site lease.
The addition of KKCM as a simulcast of KGAY expands the station to cover the eastern side of the Palm Springs market near Indio and Palm Desert.
Program Director Chris Shebel shared, “We will now be able to provide a much better listening experience in many parts of Eastern Coachella Valley. The station positioner will now be ?K-GAY 106-5 and 92-1.? We are thrilled to expand our LGBTQ+ programming reach to our entire Palm Springs market and worldwide with kgaypalmsprings.com (http://kgaypalmsprings.com).”
