Cook has co-hosted the midday show at the station since the launch of its Sports format in February 2010. During that time he has been teamed with multiple partners, most recently Joe Starkey since August 2018. He began his writing career at the Beaver County Times in 1978 moving to the Pittsburgh Press in 1983 and The Post-Gazette in January 1989. He will write his final column for the newspaper this upcoming weekend. Cook also served as a weekend host at News/Talk 1020 KDKA from 1993 to 2002 and has appeared on multiple local television stations.
In a story (http://www.coloradomedia.net/sports/shows/ron-cook-announces-his-retirement-from-93-7-the-fan) on the station’s website, Audacy Pittsburgh Senior Vice President and Market Manager Michael Spacciapolli said, “From the first day 93.7 The Fan signed on the air, Ron brought instant credibility to the station with, not only with reputation as one of the top columnists in the market, but also a trusted voice that sports fans wanted to hear from. That is a rare combination and, to this day, we are fortunate that Ron was here with us from the beginning.”
