https://radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2024/01/933kurl-200x200.jpgUniversity of Northwestern-St. Paul’s Northwestern Media is expanding into Billings with the purchase of Christian Preaching 93.3 KURL (https://www.kurlradio.com) from Elenbaas Media for $350,000.
Northwestern Media operates a chain of Christian stations across the Midwest including Christian Preaching station under the “Faith Radio (https://myfaithradio.com)” brand in seven states Christian AC stations under the “Life” brand in Kansas City, Des Moines, Madison, and Omaha and additional brands including 98.5 KTIS-FM (https://www.myktis.com) Minneapolis, WBGL (https://www.wbgl.org) Champaign IL, WCIC (https://www.wcicfm.org) Peoria IL, and “Spirit FM (https://spiritfm.org)” in Missouri. It will convert KURL from commercial to non-commercial status at closing.
The KURL Christian brand dates back to 1965 first on 730 AM until being swapped for 93.3 in 2010. Herb Elenbaas joined the station as Station Manager in 1982 and acquired the station in 1994.
