Blakey, who also hosts mornings at WGRB, will continue to be based in Chicago. She succeeds Lee Michaels as PD of WCAO following Michaels’ retirement at the end of 2023 after a 32 year run at the station.
iHeartMedia Baltimore, MD announced today that Sonya Blakey has been named Program Director for Heaven 600, Baltimore?s Good News Station, effective February 1, 2024. As Program Director, Sonya Blakey will be overseeing all programming operations of Heaven 600. She will report to Jeff Kapugi, Region Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Baltimore, MD.
?We are fortunate to have Sonya take the lead as Program Director for Heaven 600,? said Jeff Kapugi, Region Senior Vice President of Programming. ?She is a proven leader and will guide the station to new heights!?

Sonya Blakey will stay in the Chicago area as she joins Heaven 600 and will continue to program Inspiration 1390 as well as host the morning show, which she?s been a part of for over 20 years.
