SummitMedia SVP/Programming John Olsen will serve as Program Director of the new brand that both returns the Alternative format and “X” brand to the market. Birmingham had been without Alternative since the demise of iHeartMedia’s “Alt 99.1” W256CD in November 2021 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/215116/alt-99-1-birmingham-signs-off/). The X moniker was paired with the Alternative format throughout the 1990s and 2000s as WRAX on 105.9, 107.7 and 100.5 between 1996 and 2006.
W261AX had been rebroadcasting Gospel 610 WAGG (https://www.610wagg.com) Birmingham.
