https://radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2023/12/jackoliver-143x200.jpgLongtime Wichita programmer and personality Jack Oliver debuted this morning on Murfin Media’s “Classic Hits 92.7 (https://murfinmedia.com/stations/92-7-classic-hits/)” KWME Wellington/Wichita.
Oliver “retired” from Audacy’s competing Classic Hits 103.7 KEYN in June (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/253158/jack-oliver-retires-from-keyn/) after nineteen years with the station as Program Director mostly in afternoons before moving to mornings in 2020. His career began in Wichita in 1969 before returning in 1973 with a six year stint at 1240 KAKE before beginning a 24 year run at CHR 107.3 KKRD in 1980, where he would remain until moving to KEYN-FM.
KWME debuted its Classic Hits format later in June (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/254275/classic-hits-92-7-debuts-in-wichita/) where we noted it was likely Oliver would join the station upon the conclusion of his non-compete clause. The station briefly rebranded (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/260039/kwme-rebrands-as-92-7-the-river/) as “92.7 The River” in October, but has since returned to its original branding. Oliver will be heard weekdays from 6am until 12pm. He told the Wichita Eagle (https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/another-well-known-radio-personality-100400073.html), “It?s a new opportunity to start a new radio station up.”
