Rice joined WTMT in November 2020 marking a return to the market where he previously spent nearly nineteen years at iHeartMedia’s “Rock 105.1 (https://1051rocks.iheart.com)” WQNS from 1999 until 2017 eventually rising to Program Director of it and sister “Real Rock 104.9” WROO Greenville SC. During his time in Asheville, Rice has also served as public address announcer for the Asheville Tourists minor league baseball team and University of North Carolina at Asheville.
Rice shared on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/rickricevoice/posts/pfbid04bdWSsCmKXLQSwkbGSje4cHVPu3SSBJiHGdMu4xkcqpT uqBn3kEuMiE6TdRvgayjl), “That?s a wrap! I?m a free agent again. ?Moving in a different direction? was the term they used when I was terminated this morning after the show. Always the positive thinker, at least I won?t be waking up at 3:30am anymore.”
Crystal Knight remains in place in mornings at WTMT as Saga has begun the search (https://sagacom.com/job/on-air-talent-asheville-nc/) for a new partner. Knight also hosts middays on sister Hot AC “Mix 96.5 (https://mymix965.com)” WOXL.
