https://radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2023/10/kokq-200x200.jpgiHeartMedia launched Classic Rock “Q94.7 (https://q947fm.iheart.com)” KOKQ Oklahoma City at midnight.
The new format is launching with a “Two-For Tuesday” playing back-to-back songs from artists from the iHeartMedia custom Classic Rock log featuring WFBQ Indianapolis afternoon host Dave ‘Gunner’ Gunn in mornings.
The move marks a return to Classic Rock to the signal that was previously “94.7 The Brew” from 2009 until its August 2021 flip (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/211832/iheartmedia-launches-94-7-the-ref-oklahoma-city/) to Sports “94.7 The Ref” KREF-FM. The station dropped the programming (https://radioinsight.com/announcements/256838/94-7-oklahoma-city-to-drop-kref-programming/) originating at Metro Radio Group?s 1400 KREF (https://kref.com) Norman in August at the expiration of their two year agreement and had been running the national Fox Sports Radio lineup since.
The move brings a full-signaled Classic Rock format back to Oklahoma City as the market previously was served by Tyler Media’s “104.5 KRXO (https://krxo.com)” K283BW/KRXO-HD2 and Cumulus Media’s Rock 100.5 KATT (https://www.katt.com). K283BW had a 1.0 share in the September 2023 (https://radioinsight.com/ratings/oklahoma-city/) Nielsen Audio ratings, while KATT is third in the market with a 6.1 share.
