Audacy launched “Radio Libre” in October 2022 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/243265/audacy-to-launch-radio-libre-790-miami/) with programming supplied by Americano Media. Americano, which had not been paying its employees for months, ceased its audio programming in early September. MiamiWire reported (https://miamiwire.com/americano-media-facing-shutdown/) that the company had been in talks to Voz Media about a buyout, but owner Ivan Garcia-Hidalgo did not consider Voz’s offer of $1 plus assuming all debts to be a real offer. Voz itself has had financial issues as it was unable to complete its $64 million purchase (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/259179/sbs-terminates-64-million-tv-sale-to-voz-media/) of Spanish Broadcasting System’s television assets.
Audacy has two job openings pointing to a return to the Spanish Conservative Talk format under their control as they are seeking a talk host (https://careers-audacy.icims.com/jobs/5624/on-air-host/job) and producer (https://careers-audacy.icims.com/jobs/5625/part-time-producer/job) for the station.
