Now branding as “Classic Rock 93.1 (https://www.classicrock931.fm)“, the new brand matches the five other stations that SummitMedia standardized in December 2022 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/246292/summitmedia-restructures-five-classic-rockers-with-consolidated-branding-playlists-on-air-lineups/).
The new format takes the station into direct format competition with Midwest Communications’ 103.5 WIMZ (https://wimz.com). WIMZ was second in the Knoxville market with an 11.9 share in the July 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings (https://radioinsight.com/ratings/knoxville/), while WNOX was eleventh with a 2.4 share.
