The play-by-play voice of University of Texas sports since 2000, Way moved from KVET to then-Longhorns flagship “104.9 The Horn” KTXX as Sports Director in 2017, where he also contributed to co-owned Country 98.5/99.3 KOKE-FM and Classic Rock ?105.3 The Bat? iHeartMedia announced today that Craig Way has been named Sports Talk Talent for Austin, effective immediately. iHeartMedia Austin has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises ? both broadcast and digital ? encompassing more than seven stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.
iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. As Sports Talk Talent, Craig Way will be responsible for connecting with University of Texas and sports fans in Central Texas. He will report to Jason McCollim, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Austin & San Antonio.
?We’re thrilled to share that Craig Way, the iconic voice of the Texas Longhorns, is now part of our team. Every day from 2-4 p.m., he’ll be diving deep into UT sports, sharing insights only he can offer. It’s a new era for afternoon radio, and we couldn’t be prouder to bring this experience to our listeners,? said McCollim.
Craig Way joins iHeartMedia Austin from Austin Radio Network, where he most recently served as the Sports Director. He also serves as the voice of the University of Texas Athletics and Play by Play announcer for The Longhorn Radio Network managed by Learfield’s Longhorn Sports Properties.
“I was honored to be a part of the launch of AM-1300 The Zone as Austin’s first all-sports station in October of 1998, and am thrilled to return as host of a daily show on The Zone once again at a station that I called home from 1997-2017,? said Way. ?I am excited to once again be a part of the iHeart family. It’s good to be home!”
