The deal gives VCY America (https://www.vcy.org/radio/) a signal that covers the Philadelphia market in addition to Wilmington. WJBR-FM was Beasley’s only holding in the Wilmington market, but less than 30 miles from its seven station Philadelphia cluster. WJBR currently has a 4.9 share (https://radioinsight.com/ratings/wilmington/) in the Wilmington market. It is not in the public ratings data for Philadelphia.
The deal continues VCY’s rapid expansion in major markets following its purchase of New York rimshot 103.9 WNBM Bronxville NY in December 2022 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/245990/vcy-america-enters-new-york-city-with-wfas-fm-purchase/).
