Evening host Steve Trevelise and news anchors David Matthau and Vin Ebenau were let go. In an internal memo, Townsquare New Jersey Regional Vice President Brian Lang wrote, ?I want to thank Steve, David and Vin for their contributions. Our plan for the NJ101.5 newsroom is to add multi-media journalists that excel both online and on-air, and we are currently recruiting for those roles. Evenings will continue to be live, local and New Jersey centric as we evaluate the direction of the daypart.?
Trevelise had hosted Monday through Thursday nights on the station since 2011. He previously spent most of his career in Philadelphia as News Director at Rock 94.1 WYSP from 1982-96, Program Director for Shadow Traffic, and as a update anchor and host at Sports WIP. Trevelise will continue hosting his Friday night/Saturday morning overnight show on Audacy Sports 94.1 WIP (https://www.audacy.com/94wip) Philadelphia and operating his comedy club in Cherry Hill NJ.
Matthau, the son of actor Walter Matthau, had served as an investigative reporter for the station since 2000. An actor himself in the 1970s, Matthau also previously served as a news anchor at “Jukebox Radio” WJUX Monticello NY.
Ebenau has been with Townsquare since 2015 in multiple roles including midday news anchor on WKXW, afternoon news anchor for the company’s Atlantic City and Ocean County NJ stations, hosting public service shows on their Monmouth/Ocean station, and hosting a weekly Sports show on Hot AC “94.3 The Point (https://943thepoint.com)” WJLK Asbury Park. He also was play-by-play voice for the company’s streaming “Shore Sports Network (https://shoresportsnetwork.com)“.
WKXW now has weekend host Erik Potts listed in the Monday through Thursday 7-11pm timeslot in addition to his regular Sunday 3-7pm airshift. At this time it is unknown whether Potts, will host a music show in that timeslot or make the transition to talk show host. A retired police detective and stand-up comedian, Potts has worked at WKXW as a producer and weekend host since 2016.
