https://radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2023/06/wkza-200x200.jpgMedia One Group is making a pair of format changes in Jamestown NY on Saturday, July 1.
CHR “106.9 Kiss-FM” Lakewood will flip to 60s/70s Oldies taking on the format of 1340 WKSN. ?Kissin? Oldies 106.9 (https://mediaonegroupradio.com/on-air/wkza-106-9-fm)? will feature music from the late 1950s through early 1980s and the syndicated Ashley & Brand morning show.
On-Air with Ryan Seacrest, The Weekend Throwdown with Jagger, and The Latino Music Showcase will move to Hot AC “SE 93 (https://mediaonegroupradio.com/on-air/wwse-fm)” WWSE.
1340 WKSN will concurrently flip to Adult Standards.
Local radio listeners wanting a stronger, clearer signal for oldies music will get that wish beginning July 1 as Media One Radio Group?s WKSN 1340 AM will move to an enhanced music playlist of the 60?s, and 70?s to 106.9 FM WKZA.
In honor of WKZA?s long established ?Kiss? brand, by which it has been known since going on the air in 2000, and in addition to the fact WKSN has gone by the ?Kissin?? brand for most of its 76 years on the air, the new station will be branded as ?Kissin? Oldies 106.9? according to Media One Radio Group?s General Manager, Andrew Hill.
?We have a deep respect for the radio history in this community and have wanted to broadcast the fun sound of ?Kissin? to a larger audience than our AM signal has been able to provide.? says Hill. ?After months of research and feedback from listener groups and the business community we?ve recognized the areas beyond Jamestown need a station that services the wants of a powerful Baby Boomer population.? Hill adds that they will still feature some of those ?oh wow!? songs from the late 50?s and even showcase songs from the early 80?s. Morning show personalities Ashley and Brad will stay on the station and the music intensive daytime lineup will feature community information from local radio personalities.
Hill says many of the most popular artists that have been featured on 106.9 FM are played on Media One Radio Group?s Hot Adult Contemporary channel, 93.3 FM WWSE. Hill explains that the two stations have played a lot of the same music for several years due to the state of the music industry having multiple cross over artists between the national Top 40 CHR and Hot Adult Contemporary music charts. Hill adds that the popular Ryan Seacrest weekday program will also now air on 93.3 FM in addition to American Top 40, Weekend?s with Jagger and the locally produced Latino Music Showcase.
WKSN 1340 AM will now be airing an adult legends music format from the ?Great American Songbook? with artists including Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Vic Damone, Jack Jones, Tony Bennett and many more familiar voices. ?Our legends station will speak directly to a mature audience that controls 90% of the nation?s wealth and loves being entertained by radio,? says Hill. ?We are excited to provide this community with six radio stations targeting specific demographics that are programmed and operated locally.?
?Radio is consumed by 92% of the national population each week and continues to be an important source for news, sports and entertainment,? says James T. Embrescia, Media One Radio Group CEO. ?Radio has always had the ability to adapt to the ever changing world and technologies around us. Our local stations have invested heavily into internet streaming options, a useful smartphone app, Alexa and will continue to adjust so our loyal radio audience can enjoy our stations. This also allows our advertisers the opportunity to reach them, wherever they are and however they are choosing to listen. Radio is the quickest, most effective and affordable advertising medium to reach a large population of consumers.?
