West joined 1150 WGOW (https://www.wgowam.com) in 1987 after beginning his carer in Jackson MI. He and other WGOW staffers would jump to 102.7 WBDX and then 102.3 WFXS in 1994 where he became Program Director. WFXS would become WGOW-FM in 1996 when they came under common ownership, with West adding PD duties of it in 2011. During his tenure at WGOW-FM, West also served in the Navy Reserve and saw duty as Deputy Director of Public Affairs in Afghanistan in 2016/17.
