Leach currently serves as News Director and afternoon host at News/Talk 92.7 WMAY-FM (https://www.wmay.com) Taylorville and morning host at Classic Hits “102.5 The Lake (https://www.thelakespringfield.com)” 970 WMAY/102.5 W273DR Springfield. CapitolFax reports (https://capitolfax.com/2023/06/22/end-of-an-era-jim-leach-leaving-wmay/) that his last day will be Wednesday, June 28 before starting a new job as a public information officer with the Illinois Department of Public Health in July.
Leach first joined then-Country 970 WMAY in 1983. After a stint in television, he rejoined the station part-time in 1990 and full-time in 1995. He has been hosting a daily show on the station since 1996.
