From Radio Insight:
https://i0.wp.com/radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2018/10/power96.png?resize=200%2C200&ssl=1Right after Audacy CHR “B96 (https://b96.com/)” WBBM-FM Chicago moved to a gold based Rhythmic focus last month (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/251315/b96-moves-back-to-its-roots/), it was also joined by another one of the company’s stations.
“Power 96 (https://www.audacy.com/power96)” WPOW-FM Miami also adopted a gold heavy presentation with top current spins per week dropping from the high 90s to the 60s. WPOW-FM is still positioning as “Miami’s Party Station” with music stretching from the 1990s to now.
The 2pm hour on Thursday, May 18 featured:
Daft Punk – Get Lucky
Metro Boomin ft. The Weekend & 21 Savage – Creepin’
Kevin Lyttle – Turn Me One
The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber – Stay
Usher – U Got It Bad
Coi Leray – Players
Rihanna – Don’t Stop The Music
The Weeknd – Heartless
Chris Brown – With You
Miley Cyrus – Flowers
Sean Paul – We Be Burning
Mariah Carey – We Belong Together
Dr. Dre – Still D-R-E
The Weeknd – Die For You
Jay Sean ft. Lil Wayne – Down
Dua Lipa – Levitating
WPOW-FM rose from a 2.2 to 2.6 share in the April 2023 Nielsen Audio ratings (https://radioinsight.com/ratings/miami-fort-lauderdale/), which took place mostly before the changes. That placed it behind iHeartMedia CHR “Y100 (https://y100.iheart.com)” WHYI’s 3.3 to 3.5 gain and Cox Media Group’s Rhythmic Hot AC “Hits 97.3 (https://www.hits973.com)” WFLC and its 2.3 to 2.8 rise. While the move pushes WPOW-FM away from WHYI and WFLC, Power’s presentation is more Hip-Hop oriented musically, and WFLC is centered on Rhythmic Pop.
