Smith joined KYW as a part-time anchor in February 2019 and rose to afternoon anchor (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/201253/kyw-sets-new-anchor-lineup-ahead-of-addition-of-fm/) in November 2020. He told the Philadelphia Inquirer (https://www.inquirer.com/news/philadelphia/jay-scott-smith-kyw-laid-off-20230303.html), “I loved what I did there. I loved working with all of the guys in that room. I hate that it ended this way, and I wish I had gotten the chance to formally say goodbye.?
Prior to joining KYW, Smith spent three years at Public News/Talk 90.9 WHYY-FM as a reporter, anchor and producer. He has also spent time on-air at WQHH/WXLA Lansing and WWCK/WDZZ Flint MI, and as a writer for The Detroit News, MLive.com, TheGrio, and Asbury Park Press.
