https://i0.wp.com/radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2023/02/wcmu.jpg?resize=200%2C200&ssl=1Central Michigan University’s “WCMU Public Radio (https://radio.wcmu.org)” is realigning programming on its two programming feeds making its primary analog service all Public News/Talk and its HD2 feed all-Classical music on Wednesday, March 1.
Heard on eight stations across central and northern Michigan, WCMU will drop music programming including Classical from 9am-12pm and 1-4pm, Jazz from 11pm-5am, and The World Cafe currently airing from 9-11pm. In its place will be expanded News/Talk programming including the BBC Newshour, On Point, 1A, Here and Now, and The World. The current local hosts will move into new roles at the station with current All Things Considered anchor Amy Robinson moving to News Director and fill-in host, afternoon Classical host Judy Wagley becoming local news anchor from 9am to 3pm, and current Music Director and late morning Mosaic host taking over as local All Things Considered anchor.
WCMU is heard on 89.5 WCMU-FM Mount Pleasant, 91.7 WCML-FM Alpena, 94.3 WCMV-FM Leland/Traverse City, 95.7 WCMB-FM Oscoda, 96.9 WWCM Standish, 98.3 WCMZ-FM Sioux Ste. Marie, 103.9 WCMW-FM Harbor Springs/Petoskey, and in certain dayparts on 90.1 WUCX-FM Bay City/Saginaw.
The new Classical HD2 service will utilize programming from Classical 24 and be heard on the four stations in HD: 89.5 WCMU-HD2, 90.1 WUCX-HD2, 91.7 WCML-HD2, and 103.9 WCMW-HD2.
