Hubbard requested to change call letters on the station today to KPNW-FM effective on February 14. The move required the approval of Bicoastal Media, which owns News/Talk 1120 KPNW (https://kpnw.com) Eugene OR. Hubbard Seattle VP/Market Manager Trip Reeb told Country Aircheck (https://www.countryaircheck.com) that they are “now branding The Bull as ‘Country for the PNW'”, although no changes have yet to make it on the air.
KNUC currently ranks seventeenth in the Seattle market with a 2.4 share in the Holiday 2022 Nielsen Audio rankings. Audacy’s competing Country outlet “100.7 The Wolf (https://www.audacy.com/seattlewolf)” KKWF is thirteenth with a 3.1 share.
A full rebrand would give the station its third identity since flipping to Country in December 2017 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/121492/hubbard-launches-country-98-9-seattle/). Originally “Country 98.9“, the station rebranded as “98.9 The Bull” four months later in April 2018 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/167554/knuc-seattle-rebrands-as-98-9-the-bull/).
