Skyview launched the then “Power 106” KPWR Los Angeles morning host into syndication in January 2019 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/182178/skyview-networks-to-launch-nick-cannon-into-daily-syndication/) offering both a daily show and a weekend countdown to Hip Hop and Rhythmic CHR stations. Cannon took a leave from the shows (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/191255/skyview-suspends-nick-cannon-radio-distribution/) following anti-semitic comments he made on a podcast in July 2020, not returning until September (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/197316/nick-cannon-returning-to-radio-shows/) although remaining off KPWR until February 2021 when he signed contract renewals (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/205161/nick-cannon-returns-to-power-106-after-seven-month-hiatus/) with the station and Skyview Networks. KPWR would move Cannon from mornings to 10am-12pm in August 2021 before dropping his show at the end of 2022. Cannon would add an additional high-profile market when Audacy Classic Hip Hop added the show for middays in February 2022 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/219967/nick-cannon-radio-comes-to-new-yorks-block/), while his affiliates in Amarillo and San Antonio would drop the show with flips to Sports.
Two of Cannon’s remaining affiliates announced replacement programs this week with WXBK hiring Cipha Sounds (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/247805/cipha-sounds-joins-94-7-the-block/) and Superadio Networks? ?Yung Joc and the Streetz Morning Takeover? being added (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/247712/streetz-morning-takeover-takes-over-b96-5-louisville/) at Alpha Media’s “B96.5” WGZB Louisville KY. Alpha Media’s “We 102.9” K275CH/KINK-HD2 Portland is currently listed as jockless in afternoons.
Skyview Networks responded to our inquiry with the following statement, “As of December 30, 2022, Nick Cannon is no longer partnered with Skyview Networks for the syndication of Nick Cannon Radio and Cannon?s Countdown. We look forward to continuing our ongoing relationship with Nick on our influencer platform and wish him the best in his future radio endeavors.”
In addition to his other music and television projects, Cannon previously hosted the weekly ?Cannon?s Countdown? for CBS Radio and Citadel Media Networks in the early 2010s and hosted mornings at CHR ?92.3 Now? WNOW-FM New York from January 2010 to February 2012.
