Boston.com reports (https://www.boston.com/sports/media/2022/12/11/lou-merloni-is-out-from-weeis-afternoon-drive-show/) that WEEI afternoon co-host Lou Merloni will depart them station at the end of this upcoming week as the station will not renew his contract. Merloni may continue to contribute to the station’s Boston Red Sox coverage. The former MLB utility infielder originally joined WEEI in 2008 as a contributor and fill-in host before becoming midday co-host in March 2011 and mvoing to afternoons with Christian Fauria and the since retired Glenn Ordway in August 2018 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/169499/weei-boston-swaps-midday-afternoon-shows/).
With Merloni’s departure, Fauria will be moving back to the midday slot joining current co-host Andy Gresh. Rich Keefe is expected to move from middays to nights. The report does not indicate what the station plans for afternoons beyond Meghan Ottolini, who joined the show (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/224149/meghan-ottolini-joins-weeis-merloni-fauria/) in April to remain.
