FCC Actionshttps://i0.wp.com/radioinsight.com/wp-content/images/2020/05/fccseal2020.png?resize=200%2C200&ssl=1Christina Benavides has agreed to a $7000 fine for failing to properly transfer the license of 103.5 KAMZ Tahoka TX from her late father Albert Benavides to his estate and then directly to herself. Following Albert Benavides’ death in 2012, it took until this past June for a transfer to be filed to Christina, which was followed by a correcting first transfer to his estate. As part of the consent decree for the station’s license renewal, Benavides also acknowledged failing to maintain the station’s online public file and ownership reports.
The FCC has rejected Quilvio Perdomo’s attempt to resurrect a license that was cancelled in 2014. Perdomo filed an application for review with the FCC in May seeking to have the license of 990 WALE Greenville RI either restored and transferred to him with the permission of the station’s previous licensee or have an auction where he could be on the license.
Cumbre Communications Corp. had failed to file a renewal application for WALE prior to its license expiration on April 1, 2014. The application by Perdomo contains a letter from Cumbre stating that it has declared bankruptcy and no longer exists, but that it supports Perdomo?s efforts to recover the Station?s license, either by assigning the license or opening an auction. The FCC stated that the deadline for filing an application for review of the cancellation would have been 30 days after the issuance of its public notice on May 12, 2014 dismissing Perdomo’s request as untimely. It also noted that if they announce a future AM auction filing window, he could request that facility be included in that auction and file an application during the window.
