Radio sales pro Steve Lapa writes today about how Twitter is shedding advertisers since Elon Musk?s takeover of the social media platform. He says, ?When the leader is alone and so ahead of the pack, the troops can?t cover the ground fast enough, chaos and uncertainty set in, and most blue-chip advertisers hate chaos and uncertainty. You can almost hear a marketing director say, ?Why would I invest my money in that tornado, let the dust settle first and then we will re-evaluate.? How is this like the controversies talk radio has dealt with? Read it here (https://www.talkers.com/2022/12/05/pending-business-from-rush-to-elon/).

Mark Kaye?s ?Ho Ho Hold Em Charity Poker Tourney? Raises $36,000. The fifth annual ?Ho, Ho, Hold ?Em Charity Poker Tournament? presented by WOKV-FM, Jacksonville-based talk host Mark Kaye raised a record $36,000. The tournament ? held last Thursday (12/1) ? benefits the ?Kaye?s Kids? charity. Kaye and his wife Pam created ?Kaye?s Kids? eight years ago on Mark?s 40th birthday. They partnered with Dreams Come True, Inc. to deliver ?dream gifts? to young children battling life-threatening illnesses. This year?s tournament had an unusual result as all three of the top players were women. Linda Purvis took home the title, the trophy, and the $1000 cash prize. Kaye says, ?We?ve never had a woman place in the top three before and this year the ladies dominated! We had an incredible turnout which helped make this such an amazing event. The players, the spectators, the sponsors came out in force. Every year this tournament gets bigger and better. And every year we are able to raise more and more money for ?Kaye?s Kids.??
