It could be a town square, a lively conversation where all points of view are welcome, and curiosity abounds. But it?s largely degenerated into what Rush Limbaugh called ?a cesspool,? of negativity, repetitive predictable political arguments littered with name-calling, hyperbole, and willful disinformation.
Just this past week, Twitter ceased enforcing its policy (https://www.theglobeandmail.com/world/article-twitter-ends-enforcement-of-covid-19-misinformation-policy/) against COVID-19 misinformation, rampant while the virus killed a million+ Americans.
And Twitter has too many ads.
Twitter?s owner WAY-overpaid for it, and there have been mass firings and other cutbacks. Content-wary major brand advertisers left. And the content itself seems to be what the person in control will allow.
Twitter stock: No thanks.
Some of Twitter?s most-followed participants departed for other platforms, like when Howard Stern and Dr. Laura and Michael Smerconish went to satellite radio; and podcasting mushroomed.
Twitter is still available right there on your smartphone, but so are so many other ways, less fraught, to interact and to gather information.
