The son of longtime Wichita KS personality turned Ponca City OK station owner ‘Lyman James’ Bowling, Jake began his career at iHeartMedia Wichita at a promotions assistant before rising to night host on CHR “Channel 96.3 (https://channel963.iheart.com)” KZCH under the name ‘Tight Pants’. He originally joined KSLZ to host nights in 2016 before moving back to Wichita in November 2017 (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/120964/tight-pants-joins-alt-107-3-wichita-apdmdafternoon-host/) to serve as APD/MD/afternoon host at “Alt 107.3 (https://alt1073.iheart.com)” KTHR before returning to St. Louis in 2020.
In a social media post announcing his departure, Bowling wrote, “13 years with iHeartRadio is officially ending. I started this career as an 18-year-old college freshman; I grew up here. I am thankful for everything I’ve learned and experienced and for everyone I’ve met over the years. I am very proud of all I’ve accomplished. I love radio and its power to connect with people, and I will miss doing that every day. However, I want to be honest and say the last couple of years have been difficult; I?ve felt drained mentally and creatively. I wouldn’t trade my time in radio for anything, but I’ve known for a while that it was time for a change*and I can’t wait to share what I’m doing next soon”
