WFNZ Program Director Jeff Rickard will host “Charlotte Sports Today” from 10am to 12pm. Rickard, who joined the station (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/226027/jeff-rickard-joins-wfnz-as-program-director/) in May, has previously hosted mornings for WFNI Indianapolis and shows at SiriusXM, ESPN Radio, Sporting News Radio, KKFN Denver, and Comcast?s CN8 regional television network in the northeast.
The station will also add Wes Bryant and Walker Mehl to host “Wes & Walker” from 12-3pm. Bryant serves as a host and producer for ACC Network’s digital properties. He spent last season as host and insider for Bally Sports Charlotte Hornets pre and post-game coverage. Mehl previously co-hosted mornings on “730 The Game (https://espnclt.com)” WZGV and hosts the “Locked On Hornets” podcast.
With the addition of the new shows, “The Clubhouse” hosted by Kyle Bailey will be trimmed to run from 3-6pm. Bailey also continues to host Hornets pre and post-game shows at the station.
The changes fill the lineup opening created by Nick Wilson’s move (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/231972/nick-wilson-joins-92-3-the-fan-as-afternoon-co-host/) to co-host afternoons at Audacy’s “92.3 The Fan (https://www.audacy.com/923thefan)” WKRK Cleveland in July.

Beginning November 14, 2022, Charlotte will get to hear and experience ?Wes & Walker? on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ, Monday through Friday, 12pm ? 3pm.
?Wes & Walker? is the combination of Charlotteans Wes Bryant and Walker Mehl. Wes comes to WFNZ with an extensive media background in the world of sports. He is a host, producer, editor and voice-over artist for the ACC Digital Network in Charlotte. Wes has also hosted ACC Digital Network?s ?Kickoff Live?, a college football pregame show and ?Wes Got Range?, a lifestyle show joining food and local area athletes together. Most recently he was the 2021-2022 season pre and post game host for the Charlotte Hornets broadcasts on Bally Sports South. This former offensive lineman and three-year letterman for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and High School All-American football player at Vance High School in Charlotte is anxious to bring his voice to the radio airwaves in his hometown.
Walker started his broadcasting career in Charlotte, one year after graduating from UNC Charlotte in 2015 where he played basketball for the 49ers. In 2018 he began hosting the ?Locked On Hornets? podcast where his passion for the Hornets and the other local sports teams became apparent. Prior to becoming a full-time host, he worked with WFNZ as a guest host for numerous shows. Growing up in and around the Queen City, and specifically in Claremont, Walker is a life-long fan and observer of the Charlotte Panthers, Charlotte Hornets and the University of North Carolina.
WFNZ Program Director Jeff Rickard stated, ?I?m excited to hear from two talented young men who are not only entertaining and engaging, but true native sons of the Queen City. I?m looking forward to hearing their hometown takes on all things Charlotte sports. I can?t wait for our listeners to learn more about them and enjoy the upcoming ride.?
?Wes & Walker? isn?t the only move coming from Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ. Charlotte should get ready for a newly tweaked line up starting with local favorites Mac & Bone in the mornings, 6am ? 10am. Jeff Rickard, Program Director and sports host with two decades of experience on both television and national network radio, will take the reins from 10am ? 12pm with ?Charlotte Sports Today? followed by ?Wes & Walker? from noon ? 3pm. Kyle Bailey will take listeners home with all the action from the day 3pm ? 6pm.
