The NAB Show New York Impact Award honors the most innovative leaders in media and entertainment for their impact and influence on the overall industry, as well as in the city of New York. Duran and Shannon will be acknowledged for their monumental impact on the radio broadcasting industry. Past honorees include Meredith Vieira (2020), Billy Porter (2019), Wendy Williams (2018), Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory (2017).
In his more than 30 years in broadcast radio, Duran has hosted radio shows, worked as a program director and launched his own syndicated radio program, which broadcasts live from New York City’s Z100. Distributed by Premiere Networks, “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” is the most listened to Top 40 morning show in the country, serving more than eight million weekly listeners.
In 2018, Duran was inducted into NAB’s Broadcasting Hall of Fame and has been honored with numerous awards in the radio industry, including induction into the Radio Hall of Fame and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Duran is renowned for his commitment to philanthropy, supporting non-profit organizations that provide care and enrichment programs for children and animals. Duran also champions causes aimed at fighting poverty and hunger, and he is a longtime advocate for the LGBTQ community.
Scott Shannon hosts two nationally syndicated radio shows, “America’s Greatest Hits” and the “True Oldies Channel,” in addition to “Shannon in the Morning,” which airs daily on WCBS-FM in New York City. An award-winning programming director, he is recognized for creating the revolutionary “Morning Zoo” show format at WRBQ in Tampa and in 1983, launching New York’s iconic Z100 (WHTZ). Notably, Shannon co-hosted the longest-running AM morning drive-time show in New York radio history, the “Scott & Todd Big Show.” He is a recipient of a Marconi Radio Award for Syndicated Personality of the Year, as well as the 2003 radio inductee into NAB’s Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
“We are honored to present this year’s Impact Award to Elvis Duran and Scott Shannon, two phenomenal radio broadcasters who not only shaped our industry but have entertained millions of listeners in New York and across the country,” said NAB Executive Vice President of Industry Affairs April Carty-Sipp. “NAB is thrilled to celebrate Elvis and Scott’s tremendous influence as the broadcast, media and entertainment industry gathers at NAB Show New York this month.”
