Now positioning as “Your Home For 90s Country”, the move takes KXKC out of direct format competition with Townsquare Media’s market leading “97.3 The Dawg (https://973thedawg.com)” KMDL but makes it the third gold based Country outlet in the market joining Broadcast Partners Inc.’s “Freedom 106.7 (https://www.freedom1067.com)” KPCZ-FM Rayne and Delta Media’s “Mustang 107.1 (https://mustang1071.com)” KOGM Opelousas.
With the change, former afternoon host Danita Maldonado has moved to mornings replacing the syndicated Kincaid & Dallas. Cory Melancon remains in middays. Weekend host Troy Leger moves up to afternoons, while the station drops Westwood One’s Nights with Elaina.
KXKC ranked ninth in the Lafayette market with a 3.2 share in the Spring 2022 Nielsen Audio ratings placing it well behind KMDL’s 10.0 share. KOGM and and KPCZ-FM had a 2.1 and 1.6 share respectively.
