Bloodworth, who already oversees Biloxi, Hattiesburg, Jackson, Laurel, and Tupelo MS plus Memphis TN, Mobile AL, and Pensacola FL, will now add Birmingham, Gadsden, Huntsville, Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa AL to his oversight where he succeeds the retiring Ray Quinn (https://radioinsight.com/headlines/219916/ray-quinn-to-retire-as-iheartmedia-alabama-area-president/). Bloodworth has been with iHeartMedia for 25 years previously serving as National Sales Manager, SVP/Sales, and Market President in Mobile before rising to Area President in 2020.
iHeartMedia announced that Ronnie Bloodworth has been elevated to Area President of the Midsouth Area, which encompasses Alabama, Mississippi, and Memphis, effective immediately. iHeartMedia’s Midsouth area has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing more than 58 stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.
iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company. As Area President of the Midsouth area, he will add oversight to his portfolio of stations and be responsible for all operations across the Birmingham, Gadsden, Huntsville, Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa markets. Bloodworth will also continue to oversee the Biloxi, Hattiesburg, Jackson, Laurel, Memphis, Mobile, Pensacola, and Tupelo. He will continue to report to Shosh Abromovich, Division President for iHeartMedia.
“This is a very exciting announcement to bring these markets together; the alignment of these outstanding leaders, talent, teammates and communities are set up to truly flourish,” said Shosh Abromovich, Division President for iHeartMedia Multi-Platform Group. “Ronnie’s culture-first attitude, drive for success and high bar he sets for himself and his team will take this newly combined Area to all new levels of achievement and opportunity.”
Bloodworth is a 25-year media veteran. He joined iHeartMedia in 1998. He oversaw the sales teams for the Mobile Market for 15 years before becoming the Market President for Mobile, Biloxi and Pensacola. He was recently elected on the board of Alabama Broadcasters Association.
“Helping people identify their strengths, find their motivation and then achieve their goals is something I have enjoyed from Day 1. Helping our teams in Mobile, Pensacola, Memphis and Mississippi find their stride and excel is something I take pride in,” said Bloodworth. “We strive to be the best in the business and enjoy what we do and where we do it. I look forward to having the high quality and high performing teams across the state of Alabama join us as I move into this new role.”
