Darnell joined iHeartMedia Fresno as SVP/Sales in January 2013 and then rose to Market President in April 2018. He was promoted to Area President in January 2020. Prior to joining iHeartMedia, Darnell spent eleven years as General Manager of Buckley Broadcasting’s Bakersfield cluster.
iHeartMedia announced today that Steve Darnell has added Area President duties for the Riverside market to his portfolio of responsibilities, effective immediately. iHeartMedia Riverside has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing more than four stations comprised of music, talk and news formats.
As Area President, Steve Darnell will oversee the market stations and be responsible for all operations across the Riverside market. Additionally, Darnell will continue to oversee the Fresno, Modesto, Stockton, Monterey, Bakersfield, and Spokane markets. He will continue to report to Dan Lankford, Division President for iHeartMedia.
